Apple iPad Pro (2018) to reportedly ditch 3.5mm audio jack

NEW DELHI: Cupertino-based tech giant Apple is expected to launch its latest series of iPad Pro this year. It is expected that the new models will come with some radical design changes. Recently, it was reported that the upcoming iPad Pro series will come with Animoji and FaceID support. Now a new report has surfaced online suggesting that the new iPad Pro lineup will ditch the 3.5mm audio jack.
According to a report by Macotakara, Apple is planning to remove the 3.5mm audio jack from its iPad Pro lineup this year. This means that the upcoming devices will will come with a lightning adapter just like the new range of iPhones. Along with this, the report also adds that the new iPads will come with Face ID support. However, the feature will work only in portrait mode. This means that the users will not be able to unlock their iPad using Face ID if they are holding it horizontally.

The report further suggests that in order to facilitate the new Face ID feature, the company is planning to move the Smart Connector on the upcoming iPads to the bottom closer to the Lightning connector. With the new design the company aims to trim down the bezels and feature a bigger display without the home button.



Apart from this, the upcoming iPad Pro series will come in 10.5-inch and 12.9-inch screen sizes. It is expected that the company will launch the new iPad along with the new iPhones at an event in September.

Recently, it was reported that Apple is planning to launch new colour options with the new 2018 iPhones. A report from Macotakara, a Japan-based website that quotes its supply chain sources says that Apple will launch the 6.1-inch LCD iPhone in White, Black, flash Yellow, bright Orange, electric Blue, Taupe, or Gold.
